One day in February 2013…
Mim came across a book which listed the top 1,001 video games released between 1971 and 2010. After discussing it with friends at the pub the next evening, she thought: wouldn’t it be great if we could do just that?
Then she realised how completely unrealistic it was. And how writing an introduction in the third person was a really bad idea.
Later Levels originally started as an attempt to review all those games, then gradually evolved into something far more laidback. A full-time IT job, hectic family life and other adult responsibilities keep me busy nowadays, but I still manage to fit in a few hours for gaming (and sometimes blogging about it) each week.
What you’ll find here
Later Levels has been a project of love, point-and-clicks and ice-cream since it began in 2013. Its focus back then was solely on reviewing video games, but this has expanded over the years to include other types of gaming experiences and different kinds of content.
There’s no set schedule and I’ll publish blog posts whenever there’s something I’d like to share. Visit the Contact page to get in touch if there’s anything you’d like to chat about or if you’re selling fine leather jackets.
A little about me
I’ve had a thing for wannabe pirates and point-and-clicks since finding The Secret of Monkey Island on my Amiga as a nineties kid. The adventure genre has held a special place in my heart since and no matter how much it changes over time, there’s nothing I like better than a good story and a few puzzles.
In the real world, I work with best practice frameworks and service quality for an IT department in higher education. I’m also in the middle of an Advanced Data Fellowship apprenticeship and studying to become a data scientist. When I’m not at my laptop, you’ll usually find me in the kitchen cooking something with far too much chili in it or outside training for a running event.
My husband Pete and I have supported SpecialEffect since 2014, and you might bump into us at one of the UK gaming expos as we regularly volunteer at these for the charity. We also take part in the annual GameBlast marathon every February along with casual streams, during which my stepson Ethan and cat Zelda sometimes make an appearance.
Head over to the FAQ page if you’re interested in finding out more, and get in touch using the details on the Contact page if you have a question that it doesn’t answer.
