Your next career: the ‘best’ jobs in video games
If you’re thinking of looking for a new job in January, you’re not alone.
According to an article published on the Metro website, research carried out by Reed.co.uk found that 75% of UK workers will be job-hunting this month. The cost-of-living crisis is also making people consider what they do and how much they earn, with 9% looking to move industries too.
After time off during the Christmas period spent sleeping in until midday, playing video games and eating chocolate, it’s no wonder we’ve all had the return-to-work blues. The beginning of the year is therefore typically a time for reflection and this includes thinking about your career goals. Do you stick it out at the same job just so you have money for that new release, or do you venture out into the marketplace?
For me, the choice is simple. I’m still working on my Data Fellowship apprenticeship right now so I’m not going anywhere for at least the next five months. It’s likely I’ll stay at my current workplace longer than that though as my Service Management Improvement Lead secondment lasts until November. That gives me enough time to get some experience under my belt (and for my employer to consider making it a permanent role).
However, I’m aware it’s not such an easy decision for a lot of people and want to offer some help. If you feel like punching your colleagues whenever you see them and have a sinking feeling each time your manager’s name pops up on screen, today’s post is for you. With gaming having been proven to give you skills which could improve your employability, here are some of the ‘best’ jobs featured in video games. Could one of them potentially become your new career?

2 years agoI was hoping for some sort of middle management office position that occasionally involves travelling back to historic periods of time with cool parlour moments before returning to an underwhelming modern day job.
Kim
